Located 44 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah County lies in a beautiful valley between the Wasatch Mountains on the east and the Oquirrh Mountains on the west. Utah County is currently experiencing unprecedented growth, and there's no question why. It has consistently been ranked in the top twenty best places to live in the nation by Money Magazine and was ranked in the top twenty best places to do business in America by Forbes magazine. The county's close proximity to the mountains allows residents to experience a spectacular landscape and have easy access to skiing, hiking, fishing, and other nature-oriented activities. Another reason Utah County is so appealing is the low crime rate. An FBI report showed the Provo-Orem area to have the second-lowest rate of violent crime in the nation for the year 2000. Finally, Utah County is a very family-oriented area. The average family size is 3.86, well above the national average. Large families and the high student population from two major institutions of higher education contribute to the county's low median age of 23.3—the lowest county median age in the United States.

In these pages you will find statistics on population, crime, and state rankings as well as a brief history and interesting facts about each of the 23 incorporated communities in Utah County. All statistical information is current as of the year 2000 unless otherwise noted.
