Utah County has a strong labor force which can be described in three words: plentiful, educated, and youthful
Plentiful
Utah County has recently seen phenomenal growth. During the decade between 1990 and 2000, the county grew by nearly 40%. The county is continuing to grow at an average annual rate of 3.8%. Sixty-three percent of the population is between the ages of 16 and 64 - prime workforce age.
Educated
According to a 2000 Census Supplementary Survey, 91% of Utah County residents 25 years or older have a high school diploma or equivalent, and nearly a third have at least a bachelor's degree. These numbers are significantly higher than the national educational attainment rate of 81.6% and 25.1%, respectively.
Youthful
Utah County's median age is 23.3 - the lowest in the nation. This is largely due to the presence of two major higher institutions of learning in the area, Brigham Young University and Utah Valley State College, whose combined total enrollment is estimated at 50,000 students.
