Utah County is located in north central Utah, with Provo, the county seat, lying about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. This metropolitan area is part of the Wasatch Front (a 90-mile stretch of land nestled along the base of the Wasatch Mountains), which has been nicknamed the "Crossroads of the West." It is the hub, if you will, of a wheel with spokes reaching out to Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Boise, and all the cities along the West Coast. Interstate 15, one of the West's major highways, runs through Utah County, and the Salt Lake City International Airport is conveniently located less than an hour's drive away.
