Provo is ranked number one in its population group for its concentration of high-growth businesses by the National Commission for Entrepreneurship. The ranking was based on data taken between 1992 and 1997, and the ranking factors included the number of companies that expanded their payroll by 100% and the number of start-ups that had more than 20 people on their payrolls.
